TV actress Aditi Sharma – who has starred in shows such as Apollena-Sapno Ki Unchi Udaan, Rabb Se Hai Dua, and Kaleerein, have filed a police complaint against her husband and in-laws. As per reports, the actress – who wed Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik in November 2024, has accused her husband and his family of domestic violence, abuse and assault. Scroll below for more details.
Aditi Sharma Files FIR Against Husband, In-Laws Over Abuse, Assault, Harassment Allegations
As per a Times of India report, Aditi Sharma filed a police complaint against Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik, her 65-year-old mother-in-law Urmila Kaushik and 29-year-old sister-in-law Kirti Kaushik at the Goregaon Police Station on July 31. In the FIR, she accused them of physical and mental harassment and domestic violence. She also alleged assault, verbal abuse, character assassination and misuse of her stridhan (bridal jewellery).
As per the FIR copy, Abhineet, Urmila and Kirti have been charged under Section 85 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cruelty by husband or relatives. They have also been charged under Section 316(2) for breach of trust and Section 352 for intentional insults. The complaint also noted that Aditi’s mother-in-law kept her wedding jewellery – consisting of gold chains, rings, a diamond ring, mangalsutra and bangles, and never returned them back on being requested multiple times.
Aditi-Abhineet Relationship
As per Aditi Sharma’s statement, she met Vidyanand Kaushik for the first time during an online acting class over five years ago in June 2021. he friendship slowly blossomed into a relationship. After spending several years together, in September 2024 they reported shifted to a rented flat in Goregaon West before tying the knot were on November 12, 2-24 with the consent of both their families.
According to Aditi’s claims, Vidyanand’s attitude started changing a few days after their marriage. As per the actress, the two used to argue with regards to her clothing choices and various other trivial matters. She also claimed that instead of chipping in for household expenses, he used to demand/take money from her. She stated that their situation turned grave on January 1, 2025 when an argument over coffee ended in him abusing her.
During that altercation, he allegedly began suspecting her character and accused her of having an extramarital affair. This led to him constantly checking her phone before eventually moving and sleeping in a separate room. As per Aditi, Vidyanand allegedly even hampered her communication with her parents.
In her statement, Aditi Sharma also accused Abhineet’s mother Urmila Kaushik and sister Kirti Kaushik of always siding with him during their arguments. She stated that when things heated up between the couple, her husband would call his family and rather than solve their problems, they used to taunt her and worsen her psychological state. She even alleged that her MIL never returned her bridal jewellery despite repeated requests.
While Aditi hasn’t made any public statement so far, Assistant Inspector Amita Marathe is investigating the matter based on her complaint.
Aditi Sharma, Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik Prior Conflict
Within six months of tying the knot in the presence of their family, Aditi Sharma and Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik’s strained relationship became headlines at the start of 2025. In March 2025, Abhineet accused Aditi of having an extramarital affair with her Apollena co-star Samarthya Gupta. The reports even had claims of her demanding a divorce settlement of Rs 25 lakh from him. At the time, Abhineet also accused her of denying their marriage altogether, terming it as a “mock trial.” Aditi has not reacted to these claims publicly before.
