Television actress Dipika Kakar is facing another health hurdle only months after recovering from liver cancer surgery. The actor, along with her husband Shoaib Ibrahim, recently revealed that doctors have detected a cyst in her stomach, and she will soon undergo a minor surgical procedure to remove it.
Dipika Kakar Diagnosed With Stomach Cyst
Earlier, in June 2025, Dipika underwent a major liver surgery during which doctors removed nearly 22 per cent of her liver. Now, during a routine check-up, scans revealed a 13 mm cyst, prompting immediate medical attention. Shoaib shared the update through his latest vlog, explaining how quickly the situation unfolded.
The couple had attended a birthday celebration on Friday when Dipika’s health suddenly worsened. What began as mild stomach discomfort soon intensified, forcing them to consult a doctor.
Sharing details, Shoaib said, “Today (Saturday) was spent entirely at the hospital. Everything was fine until yesterday. Kakar had been experiencing mild stomach pain for the past two days, which intensified on Friday night. We went to the doctor, a CT scan was conducted, and that’s when we found out she has developed another cyst measuring 13 mm (1.3 cm).”
Dipika added that the pain extended beyond her stomach. The actress said, “Along with the stomach, I have been getting the same shoulder pain for two days. That was alarming for us. However, the doctors are saying that the pain in the left shoulder is not because of that.”
Shoaib Malik On Dipika’s Health Update
Furthermore, Shoaib explained that doctors will treat the cyst at an early stage to avoid complications. He clarified that the procedure will remain minor rather than a major surgery.
“Other than this cyst, everything is normal. This is what we were scared about. Last time, the doctor had told us that poorly differentiated and very aggressive tumours have chances of recurrence. Even though it’s in early stages now, this didn’t appear in the PET scan we did in December. We have even got blood reports done, and the range is slightly higher. So the doctor has decided to treat it; there won’t be a major surgery, but the cyst will be burned. She will be hospitalised for 3-4 days, and the procedure will happen on Tuesday. We are glad that we found out at an early stage. Eight years back, we had our sangeet today,” Ibrahim said.
Despite the setback, Dipika spoke about staying strong and encouraged others to prioritise their health. “Such is life. For people who are battling like me, we need to fight such obstacles when they come and stay determined and strong. Yes, you get scared. I was also scared this morning, but I am glad we found this out on time. I was advised last time that regular follow-ups are very important. Don’t ignore the slightest pain,” Dipika added.
Meanwhile, Shoaib also mentioned that her ongoing cancer treatment plan may change slightly after the cyst procedure. Doctors will now shift her therapy approach as part of her continued recovery.
Reflecting on the emotional timing, the couple noted that the diagnosis came just before their eighth wedding anniversary. Dipika shared how the health scare altered their plans. “Going ahead, I will be on immunotherapy, targeted therapy will stop. I am looking for courage; this is life, you never know what happens. Sunday was our anniversary. I had thought I would do something nice for Shoaib; we were planning to go out, but that’s not possible now, since the pain that aggravates is severe.”
For now, Dipika continues to focus on healing while drawing strength from her family and well-wishers, choosing resilience as she navigates this latest phase of her recovery.
