Devoleena Bhattacharjee is amongst the first few celebrities to raise her voice and speak for late actor Divya Bhatnagar. Divya passed away last year. Post that, her family was seen filing a case against her husband alleging domestic violence. Shortly, pictures of the late actress surfaced wherein she was reportedly seen having marks. Devoleena also came forward to share some screenshots of chats with Divya’s neighbours who opened up on the violence Divya had to allegedly endure. In a chat with Bollywood Bubble, Devoleena opens up on the same and sighs that no one in Divya’s friends circle is ready to come and speak about it fearing their “career.” She, however, maintains that she is ready to fight and hopes Divya gets justice.

“I realised it is very difficult to fight a legal case because a lot of things are not clear, There are many things which we cannot do anything about. There are friends with whom she perhaps shared things, they have seen Divya has been tortured but they don’t want to come out,” Devoleena exclaimed and added, “They tell me that they can share with me but they don’t want to come out and speak fearing a dent to their career. I am like ‘how is this related to your career?'”

Devoleena sighed, “Our society’s mentality is still the same. I will, of course, blame girls for always been forgiving when it comes to this. I feel that once a man hits you, there is no point staying with that person. I really want girls to understand that there is more to life than society’s pressure, baby pressure and so much. YOU have a purpose and not here to die because of domestic violence.”

Devoleena vehemently added that Divya’s friends not stepping up for her bothered her. She also revealed what has made her so strong. “It really bothered me a lot and affected me. For Divya, it was like people would live at her place, eat her food, take money from here and those people are not there to seek justice for her. I just don’t understand it.”

Elaborating on what makes her strong today, she shared, ” I had seen this in my case as well. When all the tamasha happened, all this happened with me. But I was a strong person and I never gave a damn about things. I saw so many people who claimed to be my family members step back while many others step up for me. It was an eye opener for me and that is the reason why I have become strong.”

Before signing off, Devoleena mentioned that Divya’s parents are pursuing the case and she hopes justice prevails.
