Rakhi Vijan dismisses reports of replacing Disha Vakani as Dayaben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

Since past few days, there have been reports that the makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have shortlisted actress Rakhi Vijan to play the role of Dayaben. The actress has now denied reports that she has been cast as Dayaben in the show. She took to Instagram to clarify that she hasn’t been approached by the show’s makers for the role.

The actress shared a screenshot of a news article that read, “Rakhi Vijan to be seen as new Dayaben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.” She captioned it as, “Hello everyone… this news is a rumour… which shocks me… I haven’t been approached by the producers or the channel.”

Fans took to the comment section to thank her for the clarification. Some also told her that she would have been perfect as Dayaben and wished the news was true. A fan wrote, “You are good, if she is not coming, you will be her best replacement, we were rather happy to hear that news, but now feeling sad, you are a superb actor.” Another one wrote, “Why not? You will be awesome bcz you are awesome… But still thank you for the clarification.” “Legend ho aap acha hi karoge,” wrote a fan. Another one commented, “ok but this you are a good character for dayaben.”

Later, in an interview with ETimes, Rakhi addressed the reports and said, “I don’t know from where this rumours emanated… I thought this rumour would die down but it kept increasing.” When asked how she would play the iconic character if she is cast in the show, Rakhi said, “Comedy comes naturally to me. But of course, it will be challenging. However, it won’t be very difficult.”

Earlier, the producer of TMKOC, Asit Modi shared that Dayaben will be making a re-entry in the show but Disha Vakani won’t be returning. For the uninitiated, Disha recently welcomed a second child, baby boy. She welcomed her first child, daughter Stuti in 2017.
