Pamela Chopra, the mother of filmmaker Aditya Chopra, wife of Yash Chopra, and mother-in-law of Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, is no more. The singer-screenwriter-producer was 74. She was known for her massive contribution to music. Chopra particularly sang in the movies produced by Yash Raj Films. Aditya Chopra’s mother Pamela Chopra made her last on-screen appearance in Netflix’s documentary, The Romantics.

Yash Raj Films released an official statement on their Instagram account and confirmed the death of Pamela Chopra.

The statement reads: “With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 AM today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection.”

According to a report in Free Press Journal, the late Yash Chopra’s wife passed away on Thursday, April 20. As per the report, the singer breathed her last at a Mumbai hospital. The report mentioned Pamela Chopra died of an age-related illness.

As per the reports, Aditya Chopra’s mother was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital for the past 15 days. The report mentioned her health further deteriorated.

A report in Film Information, a close associate of Yash Raj Films, Rajesh Sethi, opened up about Pamela Chopra. He said, “Pam bhabhi was a lovely person… very affectionate and warm. She was ever smiling, supportive of her family members and always concerned about the welfare of all the people whom she was associated with. We will all miss her.”

Pamela Chopra and Yash Chopra got married in 1970. Their families met through a common friend. And, the couple had an arranged marriage.

Yash Chopra passed away in 2012, in Mumbai. The filmmaker died following multiple organ failures.

Mrs Chopra is survived by her sons, Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra, daughter-in-law, Rani Mukerji, and granddaughter, Adira Chopra.

In her years in Bollywood, the late singer has sung for movies like Kabhie Kabhie, Doosra Aadmi, Trishul, Noorie, Kaala Patthar, Silsila, Chandni, Lamhe, Darr, Aaina, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, amongst a few other movies. Besides, she was the associate producer on movies like Mohabbatein, Dil To Pagal Hai, Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Veer-Zaara, and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, among a few others.
