Alankrita Shrivastava

As Alankrita Shrivastava‘s ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ counts the last few days before release, we are fastening our seat belts to witness yet another impactful, fearless and courageous story of women, their prowess, fierceness and fantasies. We yet live in a regressive system. The fact that the film faced hands full of resistance for its approach, is proof enough.

Now that the hurdles are over, many are wondering if there is any specific significance behind the film’s name. During a recent press meet in Delhi, Alankrita answered. (Also Read: Alankrita Shrivastava: Pahlaj Nihalani made me feel like a criminal)

The film, according to her, is a narration of how women often try to suppress their desires because there’s a certain ‘image’ that they need to maintain before the society. It as well tells a story of everything a woman has to do in secrecy because the society doesn’t let her declare her own fantasies.

The title, therefore is a representation of hidden desires that refuse to go away.

Intriguing enough! Featuring Ratna Pathak Shah and Konkona Sensharma among others, the film is set to release on July 21st.
