Ananya Panday has withdrawn from the film Choomantar due to scheduling conflicts with Call Me Bae 2. Originally set to begin shooting in January 2026, the project now plans to cast Sreeleela and Janki Bodiwala opposite Abhay Verma. As a result, adding another Maddock Films entertainer to her lineup may not happen as soon as Panday had hoped. While she was initially expected to star in Choomantar alongside Abhay Verma, sources indicate she is no longer attached to the project.
Ananya Panday EXITS Abhay Verma Led Choomantar
The change was made recently after it became clear that Panday’s schedule for 2026 would coincide with Tarun Dudeja’s directorial plans. A source shared with Mid-Day, “The Choomantar team was aiming to start filming in January 2026, but that clashes with Call Me Bae 2, which recently started shooting. So, Ananya and the filmmakers decided to part ways, with the hope of working together soon in the future.”
Following her exit, the cast has been restructured. It is now expected that South Indian actor Sreeleela and Janki Bodiwala, known for Vash Level 2, will lead the film alongside Verma. The source added, “A mock shoot with the new cast took place last week. The fantasy romantic drama has been in development for several months, and workshops are likely to begin next week.”
Abhay Verma gained recognition with the sleeper hit Munjya (2023). Sreeleela will make her Bollywood debut with Anurag Basu’s musical, which features Kartik Aaryan. Janki Bodiwala won the best supporting actress award for the Gujarati film, Vash.
Meanwhile, Ananya Panday is preparing for her upcoming film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu. She was last seen in Kesari Chapter 2.
