Arjun Rampal Daddy Bombay

Arjun Rampal will next be seen in Ashim Ahluwalia’s ‘Daddy’ which is a biopic on Arun Gawli. The movie showcases the journey of Gawli from a gangster to a politician. The movie is set in 70s, 80s and 90s, and will take us back to Bombay (now Mumbai).

Apart from the life of Gawli, the movie will also show us the transition of Bombay to Mumbai. A lot of research has gone into creating Bombay of that era. The movie will take us to alleys and gullys of Parel, Mumbai Central, Nagpada, Agripadad and other places which were a playground for Gawli and his team. Not just in the above mentioned areas, the film has also been shot in Kamathipura, Mazagaon, Cotton Green and Sewri. Talking about it, Ashim said, “I have grown up in Bombay and have seen how police stations, dance bars etc. looked like in the ’80s. These are spaces that most Bollywood movies get completely wrong. I don’t design pot boiler masala films. I do content driven films that have enough masala to become a pot boiler.”

‘Daddy’ will take us through the life of Gawli from his younger days to his older days. The movie will also portray the societal changes that happened in Mumbai in those years. We will get to see an era where there were no mobile phones and TVs, and transition to an era where social media is ruling.

Surely, ‘Daddy’ is one of the most interesting films to look forward to. It is slated to release on September 8, 2017.
