Awarapan 2: Is Emraan Hashmi’s Walk And Aura Enough To Make This Nostalgic Return A Hit?

For those who grew up in the 2000s or even the 2010s, seeing Emraan Hashmi stroll some aesthetic but abandoned structure with his hands in pocket while a songs played in the background was enough to know that we were in for a treat. The actor didn’t need to perform such over the top action choreography or dance some complex but catchy steps to get the audience audience hooked. But is that enough now, in 2026?

Is Emraan Hashmi’s Walk And Aura Enough To Make Awarapan 2 A Hit?

Ever since Emraan Hashmi stepped into Bollywood as a leading man, the actor’s aura has been enough to make sure the film has been in the news. Be it the manner in which his character walks or the films’ chartbuster songs, Emraan always managed to grab eyeballs for his projects.

However, the spark is missing this time. While Awarapan 2 releases today, the hype surrounding the film is lower than expected. Despite the Emraan Hashmi-led action thriller selling more tickets than this week’s other release, Batwara 1947, the overall buzz isn’t as high as fans of the OG Awarapan would expect.

Not only the advance booking, but the film’s songs have also failed to click the way the 2007 music album did. Are these signs that Emraan’s aura is not enought to pull the crowds to theatres? Or will Awarapan 2, just like the Mohit Suri directorial, manage to become a cult despite being at the box office?

We need to wait just a couple of hours more for the reviews to pour in to know the verdict from both fans and critics (as a press show wasn’t held for the media the evening earlier).

About The Film

Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Films present Awarapan 2. The upcoming action drama is produced by Vishesh Bhatt, directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui. While Emraan Hashmi reprises his role as Shivam Pandit, Disha Patani steps into this world as Zara. The action thriller also stars Puran Gabbi as Zorawar, Anirudh Rawal as Sikandar, Surendar Vicky as Jaideep, Vijayant Kohli as Mehmood and Atul Kumar as Samarth.

The musical of Awarapan 2 is composed by Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Malik, Ankit Sachdev and Wasif Ahmad, with lyrics by Sayeed Qadri, Rashmi Virag, Akhil Sachdeva and Sachin Singh Chandel. Awarapan 2 releases in cinemas worldwide on August 14, 2026.
