Bhumi Pednekkar

After taking a brief break from acting and public appearances last year, Bhumi Pednekkar appears ready to explore a new phase in her career with more layered and emotionally driven roles. According to recent reports, the actress has signed a courtroom drama in which she will reportedly play a lawyer. The project is also said to revolve around a strong father-daughter relationship and will be extensively shot in Himachal Pradesh.

Bhumi Pednekkar Set To Play A Lawyer In New Courtroom Drama

Last December, Bhumi Pednekkar had spoken about stepping away from films and the spotlight for nearly nine months following the release of The Royals. During that period, she reportedly reduced her public appearances, avoided award shows and fashion events, and even turned down film offers. The actor later shared that the break helped her focus on personal growth and reflect on the kind of stories she wanted to pursue moving forward.

Now, according to a report by News18, Bhumi has signed a new courtroom drama after playing a cop in Daldal. Interestingly, this will not be her first time portraying a lawyer onscreen. She had earlier played a legal professional in Bala, where her character also challenged beauty stereotypes and social perceptions. Speaking about the upcoming project, a source revealed, “This new film is touted to be a courtroom drama and will be shot extensively in Himachal Pradesh.”

To prepare for the role, Bhumi has reportedly been taking guidance from her sister, Samiksha Satish Pednekkar, who is a lawyer by profession. According to the report, the actor has been closely observing her sister’s work and mannerisms to better understand the legal world and bring authenticity to the character.

Bhumi Pednekkar To Headline Courtroom Drama Centred On A Father-Daughter Bond

In the reports, the source further added, “The untitled film will also feature a veteran actor, who will play Bhumi’s onscreen father and a lawyer. The story will revolve around this father-daughter duo, with most portions of it unraveling in a courtroom.”

The film will reportedly mark the second directorial venture of editor-turned-filmmaker Arif Sheikh. Known for editing films like War, Pathaan, Fighter and Dil Bechara, Arif had earlier directed Let’s Dance.

Meanwhile, Bhumi Pednekar last appeared in Mere Husband Ki Biwi, but the film failed to make a strong impact at the box office. However, with this reported courtroom drama, the actor seems to be moving towards more emotionally layered and performance-oriented narratives once again.
