Several Bollywood celebs such as Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Anurag Kashyap and others condemned the violence that took place in Palghar on April 16, 2020. The horrific incident of mob lynching took place despite the nationwide lockdown.

Condemning the horrific incident, Farhan took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Strongly condemn the violence that took the lives of 3 people in Palghar. Mob rule should have no place in our society and I hope the murderers have been arrested and that justice is delivered swiftly.”

HORRIFIED AND DEEPLY DEEPLY SADDENED at the #PalgharMobLynching of three sadhus. Couldn’t watch the video till the end. ये क्या हो रहा है? ये क्यों हो रहा है। मानवता का जघन्य अपराध है ये।, ” veteran actor Anupam Kher tweeted. 

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap said apart from criticising the people involved in this incident, I also condemn the situation that has been created in our country off late. “Do not search for Hindu-Muslim angles in this. Read the report. Nearly 100 people have been arrested. I will condemn those who were in that crowd, but more than that I will condemn the atmosphere which has been created in this country, and this is a direct result of it,” Kashyap wrote.

Ashoke Pandit also criticised the situation and questioned how can an attack like this go unnoticed?. “Why was d #palgharlynching hidden for 3 days? How cn such a gruesome attack by such a huge crowd go unnoticed by @Palghar_Police? All the Sr. Police officials should b suspended & a new team should be appointed to investigate. Thank U media for exposing this human tragedy,” Pandit tweeted.

As per ANI report, the three men, who were travelling from Kandivali in Mumbai to Gujarat via interior roads of Palghar were beaten to death by the mob on the suspicion that they were thieves.
