Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s biopic about the ‘father of the atomic bomb’ J Robert Oppenheimer, is striking gold at the box-office globally. The flick which released on July 21, stars Cillian Murphy as J Robert Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr in pivotal roles.
While the film has a phenomenal opening in India as well, a section of people took offence of a sex scene. Some celebrities took an indirect dig while some prominent personalities have demanded that the scene should get removed. Amidst all the controversies surrounding the film, screenwriter-lyricist Javed Akhtar lauded Oppenheimer calling it a great film.

Javed Akhtar praises Oppenheimer

The popular lyricist, took to his twitter handle and shared his views about the film. He wrote, “Watched Oppenheimer 6pm show at pvr Juhu today. It’s not just a good film but a great film…” Later, a user on Javed Akhtar’s Twitter thread commented,Explain isotope plz.” Giving a befitting reply to the person he cited that it’s not necessary to grasp a scientific term for understanding the film. He wrote, “It is the smallest unit of matter that has all the qualities of an element but knowing this is not necessary to understand the film it is a story of a human being who happens to be a scientist.”

For those unversed, the titular character in ‘Oppenheimer’ appears to have sex as he reads out verses from an ancient Sanskrit scripture Bhagvad Gita.

Varun Dhawan takes an indirect dig on sex scene

A few days back, actor Varun Dhawan addressed the backlash his recent film ‘Bawaal’. Its happening over the use of Holocaust references as a plot device.

Taking an indirect dig to the scene in Oppenheimer, the actor told to a news portal, ‘I know people have got very triggered after watching a small scene in a brilliant film, recently released. It’s a scene that’s important to our culture and our country. But that’s okay for you. You don’t feel they should be more sensitive to you? So where does your criticism go then?’
