The #MeToo movement has shaken up the entire Bollywood industry. As a result of Tanushree Dutta’s accusations against Nana Patekar, several women have spoken up against their predators. The likes of Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Rajat Kapoor, Subhash Ghai and Vikas Bahl have been accused of sexual harassment.

KWAN co-founder Anirban Das Blah was also accused of sexual misconduct and in response, the company fired him from his position. In a statement, KWAN wrote that they wanted to ensure a safe and secure working environment for everyone.

It seemed like the humiliation was too much to take for Blah, and he was prevented (by the police) from commiting suicide by jumping off from Vashi bridge. In an interview with The Hindu, senior police inspector Gaikwad said, “We had information about an individual coming towards Vashi bridge to commit suicide. We couldn’t take chance and we laid a trap there in dark. He was crying. He seemed very frustrated and depressed. We took him to the police chowki, offered him water and asked his problem to which he said that he was frustrated with the #Metoo allegations on him. He was depressed due to the defamation he and his family faced.”

Now, according to a report in Pinkvilla, we can assume that he must have staged this suicide attempt to gain sympathy or for some other reason. In a letter sent to Times of India, Blah wrote, “Without trying to justify any of my actions, I just want to say that I have tried to be the best person I can be. I didn’t have the strength to cope with what happened to me as a child in a healthy way. I was never able to separate sex from power, to make it a part of love, and somewhere along the way, one part of me turned into a monster… You will find my body somewhere near Vashi creek. My licence will be with me as identification plus my tattoo. I am wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt. The monster inside me has won against the other part of me for too long, it’s time to kill it once and for all.”

As a result, the police were alerted and they were able to prevent Anirban from committing suicide. The question remains – Did Anirban actually intend to commit suicide? Or did he just fake an attempt?
