Diljit Dosanjh recently addressed the controversy surrounding ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ and broke his silence on several issues. He emphasised that Sikhs can never go against the nation, explaining the reasons for his silence over the past few months. During his concert in Kuala Lumpur, the singer-turned-actor spoke about the Pahalgam terror attack, the ‘Sardaarji 3’ controversy involving Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, and the recent India-Pakistan match.
Diljit Dosanjh On Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy After Pahalgam Terror Attack
He clarified, “My film was shot before the attack, while the match happened afterward.” In a viral concert video, he added, “Yes, I have many answers, but I chose to stay silent until now.” While saluting the national flag, he said, “Woh mere desh da jhanda hai. Always respect.” He then sought permission from the audience to discuss a few things. “When we shot Sardaarji 3 in February, the matches were ongoing,” he explained.
As reported by TOI, Diljit shared how deeply the portrayal hurt him: “The national media tried their best to portray me as anti-national, but Punjabis and the Sikh community could never go against the nation.”
While admitting he had a lot to say, he revealed why he chose silence: “I have many answers, but I kept quiet. Whoever tells you anything, you shouldn’t take that poison inside you. I have learned that from life.”
Diljit Expresses His Sorrow Over Pahalgam Terror Attack
Expressing his sorrow over the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in 26 deaths, mostly tourists, Diljit said, “After that tragic event, we all prayed for strict punishment for the terrorists. The key point is that my film was shot before the attack, and the match was played after.”
He further shared the reason behind his prolonged silence: “I have many answers, but I kept quiet and kept everything inside. I didn’t speak. I’ve learned from life that you shouldn’t let poison into your mind based on what others tell you. So, I chose silence. There are many things I could say, but I prefer not to.”
Diljit’s Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy
Earlier this year, Diljit faced criticism over the cast of ‘Sardaar Ji 3’, which included Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The decision to release the film worldwide but not in India drew backlash, with the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) demanding that he be blacklisted and that his Indian citizenship be revoked. However, that order was later revoked.
Meanwhile, Diljit recently finished filming for his upcoming project, ‘Border 2’, directed by Anurag Singh. The film boasts an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, and is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026.
