Actor Arjun Bijlani, who is currently seen in Netflix’s Chumbak, will next be seen with his wife Neha Swami in Pati Patni Aur Panga. The actor, known for his ability to balance a busy professional life with his family and fitness routine, believes that a healthy relationship with food is as much about balance as it is about discipline.
As World Vegetarian Day is celebrated today, October 1, Arjun shares his relationship with vegetarian food, childhood memories associated with ghar ka khana and how he manages his diet despite a hectic schedule.
Arjun Bijlani: I’ve Become More Conscious Of What I Eat As I’ve Gotten Older
For Arjun, vegetarian food has always been synonymous with home and comfort. However, his approach to food has evolved with a better understanding of health and fitness over time. Vegetarian food has always been a large part of home and comfort for me. He said, “I’ve become a lot more conscious as I’ve gotten older of what I eat and how it makes me feel.”
Arjun continued, “Food plays a huge role in keeping my overall balance in check, considering my professional commitments and fitness routine. From my work and fitness routine, I’ve learned that food isn’t just about taste, it’s about balance and keeping your body feeling good. I still love a good, simple vegetarian meal, especially when it feels homemade.”
Arjun: A Simple Ghar Ka Khana Can Instantly Take Me Back To Childhood Family Meals
When Arjun Bijlani thinks of food that reminds him of his childhood, he doesn’t think of elaborate dishes. Instead it is the simplicity of a traditional Indian meal that transports him home. There are quite a few but simple dal, sabzi, roti and rice will always remind me of home. He shared, “Growing up food was never about what was on the plate, it was about everyone sitting together and eating.”
Even now the actor has a soft spot for the simple home-cooked meal. He shared, “Even today, a simple ghar ka khana can instantly take me back to those family meals and childhood memories.”
Arjun: I Don’t Like To Overthink Food
With an unpredictable work schedule, Arjun Bijlani likes to keep his approach toward food practical and not over complicated. “I don’t like to overthink food, because my schedule can be pretty unpredictable. I make sure I eat balanced meals, get enough protein and keep my portions sensible,” he explained.
Vegetarian food, he says, is also quite easy to incorporate into that routine, especially when he feels like something wholesome and light. At the same time, the actor believes that being healthy doesn’t mean that you have to deny yourself completely. He said, “And I believe in not limiting too much. You should be able to enjoy your food and know when to stop.”
Arjun has also gone through phases where he has consciously changed his eating habits depending on his fitness goals or professional commitments. But experience had taught him that consistency was more important than extremes. He said, “There have been times where I’ve had to be more disciplined with my food, especially when I’ve been training more or preparing for a certain project. “You soon realize consistency is more important than crash diets or extreme restrictions.”
But the biggest lesson for him is sustainability. “The biggest learning for me has been to find a way of eating that I can actually sustain even with a hectic work schedule,” he says.
Arjun Bijlani Reveals What Food He’ll Serve Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar & Shah Rukh Khan
And if Arjun ever had the chance to host a vegetarian dinner for three people he admires, his guest list would surely make for an unforgettable evening. He will invite Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar and Shah Rukh Khan. “That’s already a very interesting dinner table!” he said with a laugh.
The menu, for its part, will be kept simple and comforting with traditional Indian vegetarian food, according to Arjun. “I would keep the food simple and comforting, good Indian vegetarian food, some great dal, vegetables, rotis and maybe a nice dessert to finish,” he said.
The real highlight would not be the food, for him. I’d like to hear stories about their journey, their choices along the way and experiences that molded them. “I think a dinner like that is less about the food and more about the conversations and stories you have to take home with you,” Arjun concluded.
