Diljit Dosanjh Amitabh Bachchan

Punjabi actor and international singing sensation Diljit Dosanjh has found himself in the eye of a storm ever since a Khalistani group sent him threatening messages. The ‘Lover’ singer received massive flak from the Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for showing respect and touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet during the Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 episode which aired on October 31. Now, just days after receiving he threats, Diljit has reacted. Read on to know what he said.

Diljit Dosanjh Reacts To Khalistani Group Threatening Him For Touching Amitabh Bachchan’s Feet

A day before the episode was telecast, a banned Khalistani group – Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), shamed and targeted Dosanjh for touching Bachchan’s feet as seen in the show’s promo. SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun subsequently issued a warning to the singer and even threatened to disrupt his upcoming concert in Australia scheduled for November 1.

Following this, Dosanjh took to Instagram Stories and shared a cryptic but pointed clarification. Without directly addressing the threats, he stated that his appearance on KBC was for the betterment of Punjab and not self promotion. He wrote, “Na Mai Kisey Film Di Promotion Lai Geya c, Na Kisey Ganey Di Promotion Lai. Punjab Floods Lai Geya C..Ke National Level Te Gal Hove.. Te Loki Donate kar Sakan. (“I hadn’t gone there to promote any film or song. I went for the Punjab floods… so that the issue could be discussed at the national level and people could come forward to donate.)”

Reason For Threat

Talking about the backlash, SFJ in its statement alleged that Bachchan had played a role in inciting violence during the 1984 riots following former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination. In the statement, Pannun noted that “by touching feet of Bachchan, the man whose words orchestrated Genocide, Diljit Dosanjh has insulted every victim, every widow, and every orphan of 1984 Sikh Genocide.”

The banned outfit claimed that Bachchan had allegedly used the slogan “Khoon Ka Badla Khoon (Blood for Blood)” during the riots. This statement in turn “unleashed violence in which over 30,000 Sikh men, women, and children were killed across India.”

While Dosanjh has taken to social media and indirectly addressed the threat, he is still to publicly acknowledge the threat. The singer is currently busy with his Aura Tour.
