Girish Karnad Dead: Bollywood mourns death of the legendary actor

Girish Karnad’s death has come as a shock for all of us this morning. He left for his heavenly abode at 6:30 am and people from all over the world have been sending in their condolence messages to the family. He was just 81. People from Bollywood have also started dropping in a line for the departed soul.

At the top of the heap is none other than the President Of India, Ram Nath Kovind. He took to social media to write, “Sad to hear of the passing of Girish Karnad, writer, actor and doyen of Indian theatre. Our cultural world is poorer today. My condolences to his family and to the many who followed his work #PresidentKovind (sic).”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also one of the early ones to express their condolences. He wrote, “Girish Karnad will be remembered for his versatile acting across all mediums. He also spoke passionately on causes dear to him. His works will continue being popular in the years to come. Saddened by his demise. May his soul rest in peace (sic).”
