Sonu Nigam on the importance of devotional music

Undoubtedly, Sonu Nigam is one of the most versatile singers in Bollywood. Apart from playback singing in films, he has also recorded several albums, and some of them have been devotional ones as well. Recently, the singer expressed his thoughts over devotional music which he feels is an important part of Indian culture. The singer said that by not addressing them it is a huge disservice to music.

The ‘Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin’ singer had arrived as a celebrity judge on the singing reality TV show ‘Om Shanti Om’ where he spoke about this saying, “Devotional music, is such a great and significant part of Indians’ blood streams that not addressing it is a huge disservice to music. Further, talking about the show, the singer said, “‘Om Shanti Om’ is a unique concept. Something that has never happened before… It was really amazing to be a part of the show.” [sic]

‘Om Shanti Om’ is hosted by Aparshakti Khurana and features actress Sonakshi Sinha, music composer-singer Shekhar Ravjiani and singer Kanika Kapoor as judges, while yoga guru Baba Ramdev is the Maha Guru.
