Depression is a deadly disease which sadly, doesn’t come with any alarming symptoms. The entire world was left aghast by the recent suicide of two celebrated personalities- American fashion designer, Kate Spade and celebrity chef, Anthony Bourdain.

Recently, Deepika Padukone came forward and spoke about how important it is to reach out and provide support to the victims and survivors of depression. Yesterday, ‘Raid’ actress Ileana D’Cruz, who has fought a long battle with depression, took to her Instagram and thanked her ‘Hubby’ Andrew Kneebone for helping her not only come out of depression, but also become the person that she is today.

Sharing a collage of her pictures with Andrew, the actress captioned it as, “I break. I cry. I crumble. I fall. I beat myself up over the way I look. I’ll find fault with myself. I lose sense. I lose perspective. I forget who I really am. I focus on the negativity. I feel completely helpless. And all I want to do is give up. I feel weak. Unable to take the scrutiny. Unable to deal with the harsh words of the many many faceless people who thrust their opinions onto me. How I should look, what I should wear, what I should say, whom I should be seen with…
And all I want to do is hide from it all..lock myself away and just cower in fear and pray that eventually it’ll all go away. But that’s not me. That’s not who I truly am. I’m stronger than that. @andrewkneebonephotography I honestly wouldn’t still be here if you weren’t in my life. You saved me. You still do. You pick up my broken pieces and fix me up and give me strength to fight my battles. You remind me that I am good enough. You tell me I’m beautiful every single fucking day. And you mean it. But most importantly you don’t give up on me. You make me a better me. I’m not a quitter. I won’t give up. Not today.#bekind #bekindalways #bekindtoyourself#bekindtooneanother” (Also Read: Deepika’s message on depression post Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade’s suicides is a must read)

Talking about how Andrew helped her, the actress told IANS, “Things had got so bad that I was pushing people away. I didn’t realise how much I was alienating people. I would constantly refuse to go out when friends would call. At one point, I didn’t realise I was at home for a week… After that, I got an ultimatum from him”

She further added, “Now I don’t look at life where I’d say: ‘Oh gosh, my life’s over if I don’t have films any more’. My approach is that there’s so much more for me to do… It (depression) really was in a way godsent… That depression and that phase in my life, as horrible as it was, was needed in a way to switch things back and change who I was as a person.”

Even we would like to thank Andrew because if not for him then how would we get the opportunity to watch Ileana’s heartwarming performance in the gem of films like ‘Barfi’ and ‘Rustom’.
