Kangana Ranaut has opened up about one of the most controversial phases of her life, recalling how she faced intense scrutiny and personal attacks following a legal dispute with her former partner Adhyayan Suman. Speaking on a recent podcast, Kangana revisited the period when allegations against her went beyond personal disputes and turned into public narratives that, she says, painted her in an extreme and damaging light. On the ANI podcast, Kangana Ranaut spoke about the accusations and the way they were amplified. Without naming Adhyayan directly, she said, “My ex who filed a case on me… and on top of that, kuch khade ho gaye ki ye to chudail hai. khoon peeti hai. Kaale kamre mein kaale parde lagake kaala jaadu karti hai. So there was a witch-hunting.” She described the period as one marked by “Very apparent witch-hunting,” adding that she was only 26 or 27 years old at the time and had to deal with intense public perception.

The controversy traces back to her relationship with Adhyayan during 2008–09, when the two worked together on Raaz 2. However, the allegations surfaced years later, in 2015, when Adhyayan filed a case accusing Kangana of physical and emotional abuse, along with claims of practising black magic.

Kangana addressed the aftermath of those accusations, saying, “There was evident and very apparent witch-hunting happening at that time… So when this is how they’re going to treat me, why should I make them look good… I have no reason to make them look good.” She added that she focused on moving forward and did “the best I could do” during that phase.

At the same time, Kangana found strength in her professional achievements. She pointed to the success of her film Queen as a turning point that helped her stay grounded amid the controversy. The 2014 film, directed by Vikas Bahl and backed by producers like Anurag Kashyap, received both critical and commercial success, becoming one of the rare woman-led Hindi films to cross Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office.
