Koena Mitra’s item song ‘Saki Saki’ from ‘Musafir’ was invariably one of the highlights of the last decade. Makers of ‘Batla House’ are now recreating the same song with Nora Fatehi in the lead. The teaser of the remake is already creating waves on social media, but the original ‘Saki Saki’ girl, Koena Mitra is mighty unhappy with the recreation.

Taking to social media, Koena Mitra tweeted, “My song from Musafir #Saaki Saaki” has been recreated.
Sunidhi, Suhwinder, Vishal, Shekhar combination was outstanding. Didn’t like the new version, it’s a mess! This song had crashed many blockbusters! Why batlahouse, why? P. S: Nora is a stunner. Hope she saves our pride (sic).

Koena Mitra isn’t unhappy with Nora Fatehi, who has proved herself to be a stunning item song girl with songs like ‘Rock Tha Party’, ‘Dilbar’ and ‘Kamariya’ all becoming blockbusters. Her frustration is with the recreation itself. Why can’t old songs be left as it is? Why is there an unsatiated need for creating remakes? Check out a soundtrack like ‘Manmarziyaan’ and ‘Kabir Singh’ which have all original songs and no remakes and yet the album turns out to be massively popular.

We can understand Koena Mitra’s frustration. After all, not many in the film and music industry are in favour of the numerous remakes of old songs being done in every second movie. Let’s hope this trend stops sooner than later, otherwise, our next generation will never be able to differentiate between which one is an original song and which one is a recreation.
