Thankfully, Lara has now reached India safely with her 14-year-old daughter, Saira. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Lara explained that she and Saira were alone when the conflict erupted. Her husband, Mahesh Bhupathi, was in London for work. “We lived just about 10 km from Jebel Ali Port, which was being bombed daily. We decided to take a chance because I wanted to be with my husband and family,” she said.

The actress continued, “We drove two hours to Fujairah, just a day after the port and oil refinery there had been targeted. It was terrifying. I jokingly told my co-star Akshay Kumar that I felt like I was part of Airlift 2.”

She added that they could hear explosions at the airport. She added they were only hoping that ‘nothing was hit.’ “Kudos to the airlines. I’m sure my daughter will carry some trauma from this experience.”

Lara Dutta expressed gratitude to the UAE government. In her initial video, she credited the authorities for doing everything possible to ensure the safety of those stranded. She mentioned that she has been living in Dubai for three years.
