Madhuri Dixit hopes to make Sridevi proud with her role in ‘Kalank’
It has been more than a year since Bollywood’s legendary actress Sridevi passed away. The demise of our beloved actress left the whole nation in shock and grief. Sridevi was one of the most talented actresses of Bollywood and had worked with several A-listers. She not just dominated the Hindi film industry, but also the Tamil industry. She was last seen in ‘Mom’. If Sridevi wouldn’t have left us, then we could have seen her on big-screen soon as she was offered a pivotal role in Karan Johar’s home production ‘Kalank’.
After Sridevi’s sudden demise, Madhuri Dixit stepped in to take up her role in ‘Kalank’. Recently, in an interview with DNA, Madhuri said, “When I was on the sets, I looked at it as just another role. But, yes, I was extremely emotional when Karan asked me to take up her role. I hope I make her proud.”
“We had known each other for many years and shared a warm equation. It was difficult for everyone in the industry to wrap their heads around her sudden loss. It is still hard to accept the truth. I don’t think anyone of us has still come to terms with her absence. We will always feel the void,” the actress added.
Karan Johar’s ambitious project also stars Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapoor in pivotal roles. Helmed by Abhishek Varman, ‘Kalank’ is an epic period drama scheduled to hit the theatres on April 19.
