Madhu Mantena’s Ramayana trilogy has been in news since long. There were reports that Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone will play Ram and Sita. But later, our source informed us that Hrithik will play Raavan in the movie, and the search for Ram was going on. A report in Bollywood Hungama states that south superstar Mahesh Babu has been offered to play the role of Lord Ram in the magnum opus.

The report states, “Madhu has offered the film to Mahesh Babu who also liked the script. Madhu feels he has the innocence to pull off Shri Ram’s character.” Mahesh Babu has liked the script but is yet to say yes to the project. “What also helps is Madhu who has a connection with KWAAN, has managed to get all the three top stars who are clients of the same agency,” the report further stated. Let’s see whether Mahesh gives a nod or not. It would be exciting to see him as Lord Ram opposite Deepika Padukone.

Earlier, our source said, “Hrithik was looking for something challenging to portray and while Ram would have been the obvious choice, the makers and actors thought that it would be refreshing to see him play the antagonist. Hrithik was pretty kicked about experimenting”.

The film is said to be a trilogy that will be shot in parts and the pre-production work is already going on. The first part of the trilogy will be directed by Dangal fame Nitesh Tiwari. We even heard that Deepika will be co-producing the project along with Madhu Mantena. The official announcement is not yet made. Hrithik and Deepika will be sharing the same screen space in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter.
