Madhuri Dixit to play Saroj Khan in the choreographer’s biopic? Here’s what we know

Madhuri Dixit has won our hearts with her dance numbers. The diva shared a great bond with ace choreographer Saroj Khan. After working for nearly four decades, Saroj Khan died on July 3, 2020, due to a heart attack. She is no more today but her dance performances are still alive through popular songs. Madhuri Dixit and Saroj Khan have created magic on screens with songs like Dhakk Dhakk, Tamma Tamma, Ek Do Teen among others.

Is Madhuri Dixit approached to play Saroj Khan in her biopic?

On the late choreographer’s first anniversary, Bhushan Kumar made an announcement about working on her biopic. While major updates about the same continue to remain under wraps, speculations are now rife that Madhuri Dixit is being considered for her role. A source cited by a news portal stated, “Writing is still at a very nascent stage and hence nothing concrete has come out. However, the makers are trying to have a series of actors to play Saroj ji in different phases of her life. For example, one girl will play Saroj ji in her younger days, while the other one will play her older version. And Madhuri is being considered for one of these roles.”

Another source also revealed Dixit’s name is being considered. The source revealed, “6 months ago, there were talks about Madhuri Dixit being the central character. She was also approached for the same. And she is an ideal choice because Madhuri ka career define karne me Saroj Khan ka bahut bada haath raha hai. Most of her popular songs – from Dhakk Dhakk to Ek Do Teen – were all hits courtesy Saroj Khan. Even Madhuri always ensured that Saroj Khan choreographed her. Moreover, both of them shared a very close bond and understanding. It was easier for her to communicate with Madhuri.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Madhuri Dixit was seen in OTT projects like The Fame Game and Maja Ma.
