Manoj Pahwa REACTS To Being Typecast As An Alcoholic Who Gives ‘Gaalis’

When asked why he only plays roles where he portrays himself as an alcoholic, Manoj Pahwa responded to being typecast, “Nahin, kya hota hai — jaise typecast aadmi hota hai, toh ussi hisaab se logon ko maza aata hai. Ek time par main Office Office karta tha toh samose ka brand ambassador ban gaya tha. Ek Punjabi film kar raha hoon, usmein shooter bana hua hoon. Pedh par sniper bana baitha hoon, goli chalani hai. Director bola, ‘Sir, ped ki tahni mein samose latka dein?’ Maine kaha, ‘Tu kya kar raha hai? Mera character kya hai?’ Woh bola, ‘Accha lagega sir.'”

He continued, “Comedy thi… lekin logon ko samjhaana mushkil ho gaya ki bhai, yeh har jagah nahi chalega. Badi mushkil se usse nikla hoon. Ab wohi drinking wala image hai. Maine Ba***ds mein bhi bola tha, ‘Yaar yeh kya hai?’ Woh bole, ‘Gaali hai, aisa likha hai, maza aayega… aapke mooh se gaali acchi lagti hai.’ Ab do-teen jagah repeat ho gaya hai. Toh mujhe lag raha hai jaise samose hataye the, ab ise bhi hatana padega, warna yeh bhi ek image ban jaayegi aur log usi mein maza lene lag jaate hain.”

Manoj Pahwa’s recent and upcoming projects include Perfect Family (2025), Welcome to the Jungle (2025) and Dhamaal 4 (2026).
