#MeToo: Rajkumar Hirani faces #MeToo charges by ‘Sanju’s assistant director
The #MeToo movement hit Bollywood like a storm, and several big names were accused of sexual misconduct. Personalities like Sajid Khan, Rajat Kapoor, Subhash Ghai, Alok Nath and Nana Patekar were called out on a public forum.
Now, renowned director Rajkumar Hirani has also joined the list of accused actors. According to a Huff Post India report, an assistant director from ‘Sanju’ has accused Hirani of sexually harassing her over a period of 6 months. She sent a mail to Vidhu Vinod Chopra and some others were she described how Hirani had allegedly violated her.
“I had no choice but to be polite to him. It was unbearable but the reason I endured it all, until I couldn’t, was because I didn’t want my job to be taken away from me, and work to be questioned. Ever. I was worried that if I left midway, it would be impossible to find another job in this industry if he were to speak badly about my work. Because if Hirani said I wasn’t good, everybody would listen. My future would be in jeopardy,” she wrote in the email.
Hirani though has denied all the allegatios, and his lawyer (Anand Desai) told Huff Post India, “At the outset, our client states that the allegations made against him are false, mischievous, scandalous, motivated and defamatory.”
Do you think Hirani is guilty? Or is he being maligned due to personal vendetta? Do let us know your views.
