Kangana Ranaut’s latest film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ has been making headlines ever since its inception for various reasons. Days after its release, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, who was roped in for the role of Sadashivrao , after Sonu Sood’s exit said that Kangana Ranaut was very clear about his part in the film and that there was no domination from her end.

According to reports, Zeeshan did not watch the film as he was busy shooting for a web film. There are several people(especially her co-stars) who accused Kangana Ranaut of making the Rani Laxmibai biopic a one-woman show. But, Zeeshan Ayyub said, “Things were under control. There was no arm-twisting or domination from her end.”

Talking about his role in ‘Manikarnika’, Zeeshan told Mid-day, “I shot for only six days. Kangana had clearly told me what my role would be, so I knew exactly what to expect. An actor does feel bad when his/her role is chopped, but the director has his reasons. In some of my earlier films, 90 per cent of my roles has been edited. It hurts because of the time and energy you give to the project.”

Zeeshan signed up the historical film when Kangana took over the director’s seat after Krish’ exit. “She called me in the morning, and in the evening, I was already shooting at ND Studios. When I got on board, I was told that since Sonu Sood had got on beard for ‘Simmba’, the look did not go with the character. Plus, there were date issues. Krish too had opted out as he was directing the NTR biopic,” Ayyub added.
