Mrunal Thakur Criticizes AI, Deepfake Content; Issues Stern Warning, “Any Misuse Of My Identity Will Result In Legal Action”

Mrunal Thakur is one actress who is known for taking a stand when it comes to certain issues. After stars Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and more, now Mrunal too has commented on the misuse of artificial intelligence especially used for the creation of deepfakes, manipulated videos, and other forms altered imagery.

Mrunal Thakur Issues Stern Legal Warning Against Deepfakes, AI-Generated Content

Earlier today, Mrunal Thakur took to her Instagram Stories and posted a stern warning against creating or circulating deepfake content created using someone else’s identity without permission. Calling out the growing misuse of AI-generated content, the actor shared a short but serious note. In it she wrote, “Creating or sharing deepfake content using my likeness is illegal and unacceptable. Consider this your formal notice to stop immediately. Any further misuse of my identity will result in legal action.”

Celebrities Take Legal Action Against AI Misuse

Mrunal is not the first Bollywood celebrity to speak up against the rise of AI and deepfakes content on the internet. In recent times, several actors have approach courts in order to protect their identity, image and personality rights from AI-generated misuse. This list includes names such as Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta, Kartik Aaryan, Suniel Shetty and more.

On the work front, Mrunal Thakur will soon feature alongside Allu Arjun, Deepika Padukone, and Rashmika Mandanna in the action drama Raaka. Directed by Atlee, the film features is scheduled to release in December 2027.
