EXCLUSIVE: Mrunal Thakur Received Round Of Applause On Pooja Meri Jaan Sets After THIS Scene; Navjot Gulati Recalls How Vijay Raaz Added Depth To The Drama

At a time when violence against woman is making the headlines daily, ZEE5 released the Mrunal Thakur-led crime thriller Pooja Merei Jaan. Also starring Vijay Raaz, Huma Qureshi and Vikram Singh Chauhan in pivotal roles, the film suffered many delays. As audience continue to watch the film on the OTT app, its writer-director, Navjot Gulati shared some exclusive insights with us.

During our interaction, the filmmaker got candid about how Mrunal and Vijay impressed him as well as which scene required him to have an intense conversation with the cast first. Read on to know all he told us.

Navjot Gulati Praises Mrunal Thakur & Vijay Raaz’s Performance In Pooja Meri Jaan

When asked if there was moment during the filming of Pooja Meri Jaan where the actor’s performance elevated a scene, Navjot Gulati didn’t hold back in giving praise. The writer-director – pointing out two instances, said, “Vijay Raaz’s closing argument was not what I had expected, but it added a completely new dimension to the argument.”

He continued, “Also, on the first day of our shoot, Mrunal (Pooja) delivered a monologue about how men and women are treated differently when it comes to their relationship history. That was a moment when Mrunal truly nailed it for me. We all applauded her on set after the scene.”

During the same interaction, we also quizzed the filmmaker on what was the most difficult conversation he had to have with the cast while making the film. Answering us, he said, “The make-out scene where Pooja tells Aniket that she is not physically attracted to him was rather challenging, and we had to talk a lot about how to get it right. We also had a lot of discussions and arguments over the ending. I believe it all came together in the best way possible.”

Directed by Navjot Gulati and Vipasha Arvind, Pooja Meri Jaan is written by Gulati, Kanishka Singh Deo and Niren Bhatt. It stars Mrunal Thakur, Huma Qureshi, Vijay Raaz and Vikram Singh Chauhan in lead roles. The film released on ZEE5 on October 2.
