Fashion designer Masaba Gupta has seemingly taken a dig at actress Mrunal Thakur over her past comments about Bipasha Basu. Masaba Gupta Praises Bipasha Basu & Takes A Dig At Mrunal Thakur
Masaba took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday and shared a magazine cover featuring Bipasha Basu. While praising the actress for her distinctive beauty and fitness, Masaba appeared to take a subtle swipe at the criticism Bipasha has faced over her muscular physique. Sharing the cover, Masaba wrote, “I am very happy to see Bipasha on a cover. You see, she is the last of the OGs. There will not be another Bipasha because everything else is a cookie cutter template today. Boring. Dull. Doesn’t inspire one bit of confidence.”

She went on to praise Bipasha’s athletic appearance, adding, “And bipashabasu I love your athletic build. I love the muscle- and I want more thanks to the standard of fitness you set. Too bad if someone doesn’t see it as feminine. This is so great. Welcome back. Breath of fresh air.” Masaba’s comments have once again brought attention to the debate around conventional beauty standards and the perception of muscular physiques among women.
What Did Mrunal Thakur Say About Bipasha Basu?
Back in 2012, Mrunal Thakur had joked during an interview that she was much better than “muscular” Bipasha Basu. The clip resurfaced online last year and quickly went viral, prompting criticism from social media users. Several users expressed disappointment over Mrunal’s old comments, with some saying that they were no longer fans of the actress following the resurfaced video.
Amid the backlash, Mrunal addressed the controversy through an Instagram Stories note. She expressed regret over her comments and pointed out that she was only 19 years old when she made the remark.
“19-year-old me as a teenager said many silly things. I didn’t always understand the weight of my voice or how much words, even in jest, could hurt. But it did, and for that I am deeply sorry. My intent was never to body-shame anyone. It was playful banter in an interview that went too far. But I understand how it came across, and I truly wish I had chosen my words differently. With time, I’ve grown to appreciate that beauty comes in every form, and that’s something I truly value now,” she said.
Meanwhile, Bipasha Basu is gearing up for her acting comeback with Hansal Mehta’s Barabanki.
