Almost a month after the release of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, a trailer of ‘My Name Is RaGa’ has been released. The film ‘My Name Is RaGa’ is based on the life of Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi. It is being directed by filmmaker Rupesh Paul and is likely to release before the 2019 General Elections. For the uninitiated, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ was based on former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Paul said that ‘My Name Is RaGa’ does not intend to glorify the Congress president or to demystify him. “It’s the story of a person who had been ridiculously attacked,” Mr Paul told news agency IANS.

He added, “Anyone who has fearlessly confronted defeat and failure can relate to this story. In that sense, I don’t want to call this a biopic. It is the story of an individual who becomes unstoppable after a victory over a catastrophic life.”

Notably, a biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also being made, whose first poster has already been released. In PM Modi’s biopic, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi is portraying the role of PM Modi.

Talking about the film, Rupesh has said that he does not need to be in touch with any political leader (even Gandhi family) because all the information is already in the public domain. He also said that the film is based on facts and for that, he does not need to get any clearance.

The year 2019 started with a biopic on former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ featuring Anupam Kher as Mr Singh. This was followed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Thackeray’, based on the life of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.
