Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh was slated to hit the screens in India on December 1, 2017. However, a couple of days ago, the makers announced that the film has been postponed and the new release date is not yet announced.

The movie is yet to be certified by CBFC and is facing a difficulty in releasing in India amidst all the ongoing protests, but it looks like the film has got some good news from its international quarters. British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has certified ‘Padmavati’ with 12A, and on their website, they also state that the release date of the film is December 1, 2017, in the UK.

The official handle of BBFC tweeted, “PADMAVATI (12A) moderate violence, injury detail http://www.bbfc.co.uk/AZF357531.”

We went to the website www.bbfc.co.uk for a confirmation and it had December 1, 2017, as the release date.

So, does this mean that before getting a release in India, ‘Padmavati’ will be released in the UK. Well, if it does happen then this is surely a great news for the fans of Deepika, Shahid and Ranveer living in the UK and a first for any Bollywood film. The international distributors of ‘Padmavati’ are Paramount Pictures and looks like they are leaving no stone unturned to assure a smooth release of the film outside India. Will the makers push the international release date too, considering this might add to the prevailing problem of piracy.

That’s a wait and watch the situation as we wonder when the next official release date of the film will be announced and when moviegoers in India will get to see the film. (Also Read: Padmavati: Haryana CM bats in favour of the film, says it’s wrong to ban before CBFC clearance)
