Kanika Maheshwari

In an era where social media has become a part of everyday life, criticism and online trolling have become unavoidable for public figures. While appreciation motivates, negativity often comes without reason or understanding. Actress Kanika Maheshwari believes that every individual has the freedom to express an opinion, but nobody should allow those opinions to define their confidence or self worth.

During an exclusive interaction, Kanika got candid about dealing with negativity and criticism and how she deals with it. Read on to know all she said.

Kanika Maheshwari: Constructive Criticism Is Something I Genuinely Respect

According to her, real strength lies in knowing who you are, regardless of what strangers choose to say online. Kanika Maheshwari says, “Constructive criticism is something I genuinely respect because it helps me learn and evolve. As an actor, I believe growth never stops, and I’m always open to improving myself. But trolling is very different. Most people who spread negativity don’t know your journey, your struggles, or the effort behind your work. They react to a small glimpse of your life and create an entire story around it. That’s when I remind myself that not every opinion deserves a place in my mind or my heart.”

The ‘Seher – Hone Ko Hai‘ actress added, “There was a time when negative comments affected me more than they should have. Like anyone else, I would wonder why people were so quick to judge. But with experience, I realised that seeking validation from strangers is an endless cycle. Today, I choose to focus on my work, my family, my loved ones, and the people who genuinely support me. The peace you protect within yourself is far more valuable than trying to convince people who have already made up their minds.”

Kanika emphasized, “Social media is only a small part of life; it is not life itself. Behind every celebrity profile is a real human being with emotions, responsibilities, insecurities, and challenges that the world doesn’t always see. I truly believe people should think before they write something hurtful because words have power. A kind message can brighten someone’s day, while unnecessary hate can leave a lasting impact. Choosing empathy over cruelty doesn’t cost anything.”

Kanika Maheshwari: Silence Is The Strongest Response

The ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ actress said, “I’ve learnt that silence is often the strongest response. You don’t have to react to every comment or prove yourself to everyone. The people who are genuinely working hard towards their dreams rarely have time to pull others down. My energy is better invested in becoming a better actor, a better human being, and someone who inspires through actions rather than arguments. Success achieved with dignity will always speak louder than any online negativity.”

She concludes, “To everyone facing criticism, never let anonymous voices become louder than your own inner belief. Stay grounded, keep learning, keep working with honesty, and never lose your kindness because of someone else’s negativity. Trends come and go, opinions change every day, but your character, your resilience, and your values stay with you forever. At the end of the day, protecting your peace is one of the greatest forms of self-respect.”
