Police complaint filed against ‘Housefull 3’ makers for stealing script

Writer-lyricist Farooq Barelvi recently filed a police complaint against director duo Sajid-Farhad and producer Sajid Nadiadwala of ‘Housefull 3’ under the Copyright Act of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the complaint filed at Versova police station late on Wednesday, Barelvi has claimed that he had registered a similar script by the name of ‘Tigdambaz’ with the Associations of Writers in 2009 and had narrated it to Akshay Kumar and his make-up man Narendra Kushwala. He says that the script was liked by Kushwala and he had promised to make a movie on it with Akshay. “I find that ‘Housefull 3’ is based on my literary work and same has been produced by Nadiadwala. Hence I accused them of stealing my script under the Copyright Act,” Barelvi said.

When HT contacted a senior police officer attached to the police station, he said, “We have received a written complaint from Barelvi, but no case has been registered yet.”

The film stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Hayden and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles and set to release on June 3rd.
