A potential box office clash between two major upcoming films has sparked fresh discussion in the industry. Prabhas’ Spirit and Salman Khan’s next, slated for Eid 2027, were expected to release around the same time. Now, reports suggest Spirit may shift its release date to avoid the overlap. While these reports circulate, makers have reacted to the news. Scroll below to know what they had to say.
Spirit Postponed To Avoid Box Office Clash With Salman Khan’s Eid 2027 Release
Initially slated for March 5, Spirit was set to arrive in the same window as Salman Khan’s upcoming film with Vamshi Paidipally, backed by Dil Raju. Since Eid 2027 falls in early March, the overlap creates the possibility of a major box-office clash.
According to a Mid-Day report, an industry insider said, “Salman Khan locked Eid 2027, which will fall in early March, for his next with Nayanthara. Once that date was taken, it didn’t make sense for Spirit to arrive in the same window. Vanga’s films rely heavily on sustained buzz and clean runs. So, the delay is a calculated move, not due to production issues.”
Reports now suggest that Spirit could move to December 1. The shift will not affect the shoot. Vanga still plans to wrap principal photography by early 2027. The source added, “Vanga wants enough room for editing, background score, and preparing it in Hindi, Telugu, and other languages. The latest move shows that big-ticket offerings are increasingly averting clashes unless unavoidable.”
About Salman Khan-Nayanthara’s Collaboration
Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s collaboration with Dil Raju and Vamshi Paidipally has already generated strong buzz. The makers have officially confirmed Nayanthara as the female lead. Announcing her casting, the team wrote, “Nayanthara X Salman Khan, welcome on board,” and added, “The Queen Arrives! The epitome of versatility and excellence @nayanthara joins #SalmanKhanVamshiPaidipallyFilm. It’s an honour to have You on board for something truly special that’s underway.”

About Spirit
On the other hand, Spirit continues to build anticipation. On New Year 2026, Vanga unveiled the first-look poster featuring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri. The intense visual showed Prabhas with a wounded back covered in bandages, while Triptii lights his cigarette. Backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, Spirit promises a high-scale, pan-India cinematic experience. With this reported date shift, the makers appear focused on ensuring a clear theatrical run.
Spirit Makers React
At the time of publishing, a new update has emerged that counters earlier speculation. An industry insider revealed, “PRABHAS – SANDEEP REDDY VANGA – BHUSHAN KUMAR: ‘SPIRIT’ NOT POSTPONED… The makers of #Spirit have officially clarified that the film is progressing exactly as planned and will arrive in cinemas worldwide on March 5, 2027.”
