Oscar For Guneet Monga: Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi pour heartfelt wishes
Producer Guneet Monga’s documentary ‘Period. End of Sentence’ won the Best Documentary Short Subject at the 91st Academy Awards. This is actually a victory for our country. ‘Period. End of Sentence’ is about menstruation in rural India. The film has been directed by Rayka Zehtabchi.
Guneet took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to announce the news of her achievement. Here’s her tweet.
WE WON!!! To every girl on this earth… know that you are a goddess… if heavens are listening… look MA we put @sikhya on the map ❤️

On this feat of Guneet, Priyanka Chopra congratulated her on Twitter saying,

This is indeed a proud moment for India and the industry, isn’t it? On her win, Guneet said, “Thank You to the Academy for the highest honour and for recognising the efforts of the young girls from Oakwood school in LA to Kathikera in UP in helping us shatter the glass ceiling. Periods are normal and in no way do they stop us from achieving anything. This has been more than 10 years of work of Action India run by Gauri Chaudhary on educating reproductive rights on the ground in many villages. Feminist Majority Movement and Girls learn International have been pushing this cause in the US.”
We congratulate Guneet Monga on winning the Oscar.
