Priyanka Chopra Admits Playing More Roles In Varied Genres With Best Actors In Bollywood; Says, “I Haven’t Done Much In Hollywood”

Priyanka Chopra may be landing some of the biggest films and web series in Hollywood right now, but in her latest interview, she opened up about her ambitions. During a conversation at the Cannes Lions conference on Wednesday, Priyanka candidly discussed her evolving career in India and Hollywood.

Priyanka Chopra Compares Her Bollywood And Hollywood Career

Reflecting on the current entertainment landscape, Chopra expressed, “What a wonderful time to be an entertainer, to be in the entertainment business, because ideas are your currency.”

Addressing how the industry has transformed over the years, she told Variety, “I feel like if you have an idea, shoot it, put it on YouTube, and it can become ‘Obsession,’ the movie that just came out.” She elaborated, “It used to be such a niche industry when I first started. If you wanted to get into filmmaking, you had to figure out what department you wanted to be in.”

Chopra discussed her desire to expand her English-language work and explore a broader range of roles alongside bigger talents. She said, “In my Hindi-language career, I’ve worked with all the best filmmakers and the best actors, I’ve told amazing stories and done a variety of genres. Whereas in America, in Hollywood, in my English-language work, I haven’t really done that as much.”

Priyanka On Reinventing Herself

Looking ahead, she shared her thoughts on reinventing herself. She said, “My next reinvention is figuring out how, in (my) English-language work, I can bring that kind of variety to my characters that I have been able to do in India.”

Priyanka Chopra also discussed launching a production company in the US, driven by her desire to support emerging storytellers. She explained, “I started my production house to support new filmmakers, or filmmakers who have great ideas but don’t have the ability to open doors that I may be able to open.”

Priyanka Chopra will next appear in SS Rajamouli’s film Varanasi. She is also set to work with Orlando Bloom on an upcoming project and is reportedly in talks with Angelina Jolie for a new film.
