R Madhavan Admits No One Does Does Romance Like Shah Rukh Khan; Demands For Better Indian Rom-Coms And Age-Appropriate Heroines

Actor R Madhavan has been garnering rave response for his role in Kesari 2 co-starring Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday. The actor made his debut with romantic drama Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein and is remembered for the role till date. In a recent interview, he spoke about why conversation around lack of romantic film has been rampant and hails Shah Rukh Khan as the king of romance.

R Madhavan praises SRK as he talks about romantic films

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Madhavan comments on lack of good romantic films. He says, “I don’t recall any rom-com that has worked on OTT platforms either. I know the Korean [dramas] work but I don’t recall seeing any hardcore, Indian, romantic film. Let alone one that is age-appropriate for a 55-year-old. And I think they’re the most romantic people in the world, because this generation, my generation, knows how much importance to give our partners, because we’ve lived through so much. It’s low-hanging fruit to be plucked in this genre but we don’t have writers. Writers who can see films like As Good as It Gets (1997) as romantic stories. I can’t forget those dialogues!”

He heaps praise on King Khan and says, “Don’t blame the money. Get us a story, no? One that is well-researched. No one does romance like Shah Rukh [Khan] but one needs a heroine of his age as well. That’s getting difficult to find.”

On the work front, Madhavan will be seen in the love story Aap Jaisa Koi opposite Fatima Sana Shaikh. Directed by Vivek Soni and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, the film revolves around two unique individuals who embark on a journey of unexpected twists and heartfelt moments.
