Raabta and Magadheera

The trailer of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon-starrer ‘Raabta’ was launched today. We watched, and were spellbound. The chemistry of Sushant and Kriti blew us away like a whiff of first love, and Jim Sarbh’s villainous avatar shook us once again, after his award winning performance in last year’s ‘Neerja’.

Boy meets girl; warrior meets princess, while a spoilt prince eyes the princess and strikes, as we gasp collectively. However, as the shots flitted in and out of past and present, with frames focusing on the beautiful love story that starts in Budapest, and goes back in time, we are reminded of yet another love and revenge sage, something which was grandeur personified, the Telugu movie ‘Magadheera’, which was on the similar lines.

Can it be that ‘Raabta’ is somewhat similar, but turns out to be just as beautiful, or even better? We can only know it when the movie hits the theatres.

The reincarnation concept was explored last year in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirzya’, which did not do wonders at box office, and did not manage to awe the critics either. However, with ‘Raabta’ that equation may just change, for the trailer has proved that it will chart out a very beautiful love story, a love that has never changed, even though time has passed by.
