Yesterday, Akshay Kumar unveiled the first look of his upcoming film ‘Laxmmi Bomb’. While everyone was applauding the actor for his transgender look and bold move, nobody had any inkling about what’s going amongst the team of this highly talked about film. Last night, Raghava Lawrence announced that he is stepping down as the director of this Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani starrer. And the reason is a bit disturbing.

Taking to his social media handle, Raghava expressed his disappointment over several issues related to his upcoming film ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, which is a Hindi remake of Tamil film, ‘Kanchana’. The director was hurt that the first look of his film was released yesterday without his knowledge. No one from the film’s team even consulted him before releasing the first look. Raghava even said that he wouldn’t mind being replaced by any other director because his self-respect is more important to him.

He even pointed out that there were several other issues which disturbed him and hence he decided to leave the project. Raghava’s statement read, “Hi dear friends and fans, there is an old popular saying in Tamil which tells ‘Don’t step into any house where there is no respect’. In this world, more than money and fame, self-respect is the most important attribute to a person’s character. So I have decided to step out of the project, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, the Hindi remake of ‘Kanchana’. I don’t want to mention the reason because there are multiple reasons, but one of them is that the first look poster of the film was released today without my knowledge and even without discussing anything with me. I was informed about this by a third person. It is very painful for a director to know about his movie’s first look release from others. I feel very disrespected and disappointed.”

You can read his entire statement below:

We wonder what Akshay has to say about all these allegations. A director treats his film like his baby so we can understand how much betrayed Raghava must be feeling now.

Hope things get sorted out and Raghava is back as the film’s director. In ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, we will see Akshay Kumar as a man possessed by a transgender ghost. The film is scheduled to hit the silver screens on June 5, 2020.
