‘Ramayana’ is gearing up to dominate the global box office this Diwali. With the monster film ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ also set to release during the festive weekend, the makers of the Indian epic have seemingly chosen to bring forward its international debut. This scheduling sets the stage for an intriguing box-office clash between two grand-scale spectacles. Both films are expected to benefit from premium-format and IMAX screenings. Ramayana Gets An Early Release In Australia
According to the latest update from Sony Pictures Australia, ‘Ramayana’ will now hit Australian cinemas a day earlier than its previously announced global release, opening on November 5, 2026. This early release gives the Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi-starrer a head start over Takashi Yamazaki’s ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’, which is scheduled to premiere on November 6.
The one-day advantage for ‘Ramayana’ could prove significant. It could potentially allow the film to start its theatrical run before ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ arrives. This is giving it an extended window at the box office to maximise earnings. ‘Ramayana’ is being positioned as a major global cinematic event. ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ follows the success of the Oscar-winning ‘Godzilla Minus One’. It became a worldwide hit and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
The new film returns to post-war Japan and features Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe reprising their roles. It is scheduled to release in Japan on November 3, with an international rollout planned for three days later.
Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release during Diwali. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The second part will be releasing next year during Diwali 2027.
