Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija formally apologized to the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday for their inappropriate remarks made on the show India’s Got Latent. Last month, Allahbadia faced backlash for his comments during a YouTube episode, which many deemed offensive and derogatory.
Ranveer Allahbadia And Apoorva Mukhija Apologize To NCW
Following the incident, Ranveer had initially issued a video apology but continued to face criticism on social media for his perceived insensitivity. On Friday, both Allahbadia and Mukhija appeared before the NCW, where they were questioned for several hours before submitting their written apologies, as reported by PTI.
During his session with the commission, Ranveer expressed his commitment to being more cautious with his words in the future. He conveyed, “This is the first and last time such a mistake has happened. From now on, I will think carefully and speak with respect toward women.”
Vijaya Rahatkar, chairperson of the NCW, emphasized the commission’s stance against inappropriate language. She stated, “Four people appeared before the commission — Tushar Poojari, Saurabh Bothra, Apoorva Mukhija and Ranveer Allahbadia. The commission will not accept the use of inappropriate language. Such remarks are simply not acceptable.”
About India’s Got Latent Controversy
During the controversial episode of Samay’s India’s Got Latent, Ranveer posed an offensive question to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
In his initial public apology, Ranveer acknowledged the inappropriateness of his comment, stating, “I shouldn’t have said what I did on ‘India’s Got Latent.’ I’m sorry. My comment was not just inappropriate—it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m here to apologize. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform, and obviously, this is not how I want to use it. I won’t offer any context, justification, or reasoning for what happened. I’m simply here to apologize. I personally had a lapse in judgment. It was not cool on my part.”
