Ranveer Singh welcomes Sandeep Patil’s son Chirag to the ’83’ team

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is going through a fantastic phase in his career. The ‘Gunday’ actor is always charged up and his energy on and off the screen is infectious. As we all know, the expressive and energetic actor will be portraying the character of former Indian captain Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s ’83’.

Now, earlier today, makers of the film announced that former Indian cricketer Sandeep Patil’s son Chirag Patil will be portraying his father in this sports drama. Sandeep was a swashbuckling player in his time and was a member of India’s World Cup winning squad in 1983. India had defeated mighty West Indies at the Lord’s to become the world champions for the very first time.

Sandeep Patil also addressed a heartwarming letter for his son Chirag. In the letter, Sandeep expressed how proud he was as a father to have his own son play his role in the film.

Ranveer being Ranveer commented on the photo and wholeheartedly welcomed Chirag to the ’83’ team. Ranveer Singh is a total team man the great thing about him is that he is not pretentious and loves people unconditionally.

Mumbai Mirror quoted Chirag as saying, “I’m really excited, the ’83 World Cup win is considered a milestone in Indian history and to be a part of that team is a dream come true and playing my father, who’s my hero, is just awesome. I don’t think any actor has ever played his own father before. I’m the first.”

This moment will forever be etched in every Indians mind as Kapil Dev lifted the World Cup in 1983.
