On April 9, American rapper Earl Simmons, known by his stage name DMX, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 50. DMX was on life support for a week. He was hospitalised following a reported overdose of drugs. DMX’s sudden demise sent a shockwave throughout the world.

According to People magazine, confirming the news of the rapper’s death his family said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days.” Even B-town celebs Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh are heartbroken by the untimely demise of the American rapper.

In a heartfelt post, Priyanka revealed DMX was one of her favourite artistes while growing up. She even shared how it was dream come true moment for her when she got an opportunity to work with him. Mourning the loss and offering condolences to the rapper’s family, PeeCee tweeted, “He was one of my favourite artists growing up, and then to have had the opportunity to work with him was such a dream come true. Such a big loss for the music industry. #RIP DMX. Sending my thoughts and love to his family(sic).”

Priyanka’s Dil Dhadakne Do co-star Ranveer Singh is also deeply saddened by the demise of DMX. Ranveer paid tribute by sharing DMX’s picture on his Instagram stories and song tagging ‘Let Me Fly’, one of the popular songs of the late rapper.

Tributes are pouring in from all over the world for the rapper-actor.
