RIP Nitin Desai: Akshay Kumar postpones OMG 2 trailer as a mark of respect

On Wednesday, Bollywood was taken aback when the death news of renowned art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai. The art director who has worked in films like Jodhaa Akbar, Lagaan and more died by suicide. As Bollywood is mourning the loss of a talented art director, actor Akshay Kumar has also decided to postpone the release of the OMG 2 trailer. As a mark of respect, Akshay decided to release the trailer tomorrow, August 3 at 11 am.

Akshay took to his Twitter handle and paid tribute to the late Nitin Desai while announcing that they will launch it tomorrow. The Samrat Prithviraj actor tweeted, “Unbelievably sad to know about the demise of Nitin Desai. He was a stalwart in production design and such a big part of our cinema fraternity. He worked on so many of my films… this is a huge loss. Out of respect, we are not releasing the OMG 2 trailer today. Will launch it tomorrow at 11 am. Om Shanti.”

Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 is one of the highly-anticipated movies and people are eagerly waiting for its trailer. Initially, the trailer was supposed to release today, August 2. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. Oh My God 2 is scheduled to release on August 11, clashing with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2.

According to reports, Nitin Desai who died by suicide had defaulted on a Rs 252-crore loan. Desai’s company, ND’s Art World Pvt Ltd, had borrowed Rs 185 crore and had trouble in repaying them. Nevertheless, Nitin Desai had an illustrious career and bagged some prestigious awards. He is the four-time winner of the National Film Award.
