The investigation into the shooting incident at the residence of Rohit Shetty is advancing swiftly. Recently, authorities successfully recovered the firearm used in the four shots fired during the incident. On February 18, a Mumbai Police spokesperson confirmed that the crime branch had located the weapon. This development came alongside new information indicating that the accused were recruited through a combination of social media interactions and local connections.
Authorities Find Real Firearm Used In Shooting At Residence Of Rohit Shetty
The Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Crime Branch has arrested 12 individuals connected to the case, including the suspected shooter, Deepak Chandra Sharma. The attack involved unidentified assailants firing four bullets outside Shetty’s residence. This has raised serious concerns within Bollywood about the filmmaker’s safety. The incident has been claimed by Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.
According to PTI, a spokesperson stated, “The firearm used in the shooting has been recovered from the shooter and has been sent for ballistic analysis to determine its involvement in the crime.” Earlier, on February 18, officials revealed that the suspects were allegedly influenced by messages portraying the attack as a “mission” carried out by “Hindu sainiks” to instil fear and gain notoriety. A report by TOI also suggested that the main suspect, Deepak Chandra Sharma, was allegedly paid Rs 50,000 upfront. He was also promised a larger sum after the attack.

On January 31, unidentified assailants fired outside the director’s Juhu residence. Police promptly arrived at the scene and launched an investigation, increasing security around his home. The gang of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the shooting through a Facebook post.
