Salman Khan To Begin Filming Superhero Film With Raj & DK; Actor To Play Weary Crime- Fighter- Report

Salman Khan’s upcoming slate over the next few years is shaping up to be one of the busiest phases of his career. Central to his plans is a project unlike any he has attempted before, a high-budget superhero film directed by the duo Raj & DK. Salman Khan To Begin Filming Superhero Film With Raj & DK

According to Mid-Day, Salman will begin filming with Raj & DK after completing his current commitments—Monster (working title SVC63) and Bigg Boss 20. The filmmakers are currently engaged with the final schedule of Farzi 2. Post this series, the filmmakers will shift to pre-production for Salman’s film afterward. While groundwork was initially expected to start around October end, with principal photography tentatively set for January 2027, recent trade reports suggest the timeline might have been moved up. Filming could now start as early as October 2026, following an extensive pre-visualization phase.

The film has been officially titled The Last Hero. Backed by Atul Agnihotri and reportedly co-produced with Mythri Movie Makers, the project promises to be on a scale rarely seen in Hindi cinema. Instead of a typical origin story, The Last Hero is said to focus on a weary, aging crime-fighter reluctantly pulled back into action for one last battle. This approach marks a departure from the larger-than-life heroics traditionally associated with Salman’s on-screen persona.

The makers are also in talks with Weta FX. The studio behind some of Hollywood’s biggest visual effects spectacles, to give the film a global-scale look. There are unconfirmed reports that Kareena Kapoor Khan might join the cast. For Raj & DK, known for the Family Man and Farzi franchises, this marks their return to theatrical filmmaking after nearly a decade. Their last directorial feature being A Gentleman in 2017.

Salman Khan’s Current Projects

Before diving into the superhero universe, Salman is busy with Vamshi Paidipally’s action entertainer. It has been reportedly titled Monster, starring Nayanthara. Produced by Dil Raju and Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film is aimed for an Eid 2027 release. With about 50 days left of shooting, Salman is also managing his Bigg Boss 20 commitments. It is before fully shifting his focus to the Raj & DK project by year’s end.
