Sanjay Dutt

Actor Sanjay Dutt serving his sentence for illegal possession of weapons during the Mumbai blast has been granted an extension of his parole for the third time now. This has created a furore with majority of people fuming over the bias treatment by the authorities to him. The serial bombing was heart rendingly destructive and had taken over 350 lives therefore it was the the duty of the law keepers to see those linked with the dastardly acts are punished.

According to sources, by granting Dutt parole for the third time the Maharashtra Government has certainly sent the wrong message to the society. The 54-year-old actor has been out on parole since December 21 and was to return to the Yerawada Jail in Pune on February 21. But he applied for a further parole extension to take care of his sick wife Manyata. And his wish was granted! His parole has been extended till 21st March.

Sanjay Dutt has a huge fan following, but it does not mean that he is not a culprit. The court of law has awarded him a sentence for his role in the Mumbai blasts therefore he is a criminal in the eyes of law. Shouldn’t he be treated as any other convict instead of being given preferential treatment? Isn’t this repeated parole extension hurting the sentiments of the blasts victims?

Looks like the authorities are playing the game of favoritism. Well is it due to Sanju’s sister Priya Dutt being an MP in congress or is it that stardom comes with its own perks? Every citizen must be treated equal in the eyes of law or people will lose faith in the law authorities.

Do you think that the government is being preferential in Sanjay Dutt’s case?
