Ranbir Kapoor breaks his silence on Salman Khan's comment about Sanjay Dutt playing himself in 'Sanju'

Ranbir Kapoor is currently on cloud-nine as he is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film ‘Sanju’. By cloud nine, we mean that the actor is already being applauded for his portrayal as reel Sanjay Dutt.

A few days back, if you remember, Sanjay Dutt’s close buddy Salman Khan had made a statement saying that no one could play Dutt on-screen except he himself, adding that Sanjay should have at least played last 7-8 years of his life in the biopic. Well, everyone has their own point of view and Khan was not wrong in putting forward the same. (Also Read: This special moment between Ranbir Kapoor and Paresh Rawal will leave you teary-eyed)

But it seems Ranbir Kapoor, who is playing the titular role in Rajkumari Hirani’s directorial had a different say to this. In a recent media interaction, when Bollywoodlife asked Kapoor about Salman’s statement, he said, “It has never happened that a person played himself in his own biopic. This destroys the effect of a character. I knew that I will be compared to Sanjay Dutt and that is why I have tried my best to do justice to his role.”

The actor further added, “Whether people see me in 40-year old Sanjay Dutt’s avatar or 20-year old, they should feel that they are watching an artist who is playing Sanjay Dutt. It is correct that I cannot become a second Sanjay Dutt.”

Mr. Kapoor has made a valid point too. Nevertheless, we are not defending any actor but are just waiting to watch Baba’s biopic! The film also features Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Jim Sarbh, Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. The movie is set to release on June 29.
